If you want to play golf in a convivial atmosphere on some of the country’s best courses with a group of like-minded individuals, welcome.

The Old Radleian Golfing Society welcomes Old Radleian’s of all golfing abilities. The society has a calendar involving some 10 fixtures, the majority are foursomes matches and open to all members of the society. There are matches played against host clubs, matches against other Old Boys teams (Haileybury, Charterhouse, Sherborne & Lancing). Membership of the ORGS also permits our members access to the Radley golf course, with prior arrangement with the Bursary.

The main society days are hosted at two of the UK’s great golf clubs. The Spring Meeting (The Berkshire) and The Autumn Meeting (Royal St Georges). Both golf clubs have wonderful courses and exceptional lunches. These meetings comprise an 18-hole medal round in the morning with the main society trophy being awarded for the best handicap/stableford score. Foursomes is played in the afternoon after lunch!

The Society enter teams for several representative competitions. They are foursome matches played off scratch, including the Halford Hewitt (teams of 10), Grafton Morrish, The Bernard Darwin (over 55) and the Senior Darwin (over 65) and the Veterans Darwin (over 75) (all with teams of 6).

The Robin Turner Trophy is our annual singles knock out competition off handicap. Entry is due prior to the Spring Meeting. Members organise their games by a due date. This is a great way to entertain and be entertained by fellow members at their clubs.

We are keen to encourage younger members and to reduce the costs of society meetings for all members. Annual subscription for the society is £50 per year, but only £20 for members under 30. The fee for the Spring and Autumn meetings is £120 per day in 2023 (2 rounds and lunch), with a reduced rate of £50 for the under 30’s. Society match fees are £115, reduced to £40 for under 30’s. If you are a new member, please set up a standing order for £50 (£20 for under 30’s).
